This Song From Phillauri Is Probably The Next Sufi Anthem Of India

Phillauri seems like a breath of fresh air among the usual Bollywood movies that work on banal plots. Its trailer looks rather promising and suggests that the film might have a take on the social issue of being a Maanglik (in a funny manner, though).

Moreover, the cast of the film is refreshing and looks exciting with Diljit Dosanjh-Anushka Sharma’s fresh pairing, the debutante Mehrene Pirzada and Life Of Pi fame Suraj Sharma.

Well, a new Phillauri song has been released and does it sound nice! The song titled Dum Dum is a Sufi song with soft music and profound lyrics. Looks like it’s going to bring composure to the otherwise seemingly chaotic and hilarious movie plot.

The Dum Dum video gives us an insight into the apparently tumultuous relationship that Anushka Sharma and Diljeet Dosanjh have in the film.

Its introductory music sequence takes us back to Haider’s Gulon Mein Rang Bhare. It sounds like the tempo of Gulon…’s introductory sequence has been increased.

Nevertheless, its hum-worthy tune has certainly earned it a place in the list of our favourite Sufi songs. The singers- Romy and Vivek Hariharan- have perfectly lent serenity to the song through their soothing voices.

Watch it here and tell us what you think about the song.

Also, this reminds us of the song that we heard in the official Phillauri trailer- Saahiban. It seems to have a vibe quite similar to that of Dum Dum

Well, we just cannot wait for the film’s release. It has been slated to release on 24th March 2017.
