It was during the shooting of PK that Sanjay Dutt was narrating his personal story to Rajkumar Hirani. Somewhere, in the midst of this, the talented filmmaker thought to make his story into a film because he was mesmerized.
“The only reason for me to make this film is because I got engaged in the story. Or else, why would I make a film on Sanjay Dutt? When I heard the story, I was like ‘whatttt’,” reported Indian Express.
Thus, the idea of making a Sanjay Dutt biopic was born.
Bollywood is wholeheartedly embracing the new genre of making biopics and Sanjay Dutt’s biopic would hit a new high as the movie will throw light on his controversial and seemingly dark past – His drug addiction, his underworld‘s and Bombay blasts’ involvement, and how bravely he evolved from this. Although, Mr. Hirani has promised not to glorify him in the movie.
Ranbir Kapoor was roped in as the ‘obvious’ choice to play the role of Sanjay Dutt. After experiencing many problems, the film’s shooting has finally begun.
Rajkumar Hirani shared the good news with his fans on the social media platform.
First shot taken now for Sanjay Dutt’s biopic. Canning a very funny scene. Excitement in cast and crew.

Other than Ranbir Kapoor, the film includes Paresh Rawal who will play his late father, Sunil Dutt. Anushka Sharma will be playing one of the journalists in the film and Sonam Kapoor would be one of the leading ladies.
Dia Mirza also shared a picture from the set which shows Ranbir Kapoor, Abhijat Joshi (writer), Vicky Kaushal, Rajkumar Hirani cutting the cake.

Rajkumar Hirani is planning to finish the film’s shooting by June and is planning to release it on 2017 Christmas.
All that remains to be seen is how this stellar cast will mould a life story into one of the most well-received biopics.
This news has certainly got us excited and we hope the movie rolls out real soon.
