Kashmir has a lot of issues to resolve. Anger lingers on the idyllic valley and this anger erupts into violence. Citizens of Kashmir bear the brunt as they become hapless pawns in this vicious game which dictates many unrealistic rules. It’s really heartbreaking.
Some self-proclaimed groups consider themselves as gurus to preach certain things and their so called rules only leave us with two feelings: angry and sad.
An obscure group in Kashmir, Sangbaaz Association Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Kashmir, has come up with a new ridiculous law in Srinagar: Girls riding a scooty will be burnt alive along with the vehicle.
You read that right!
Huge posters were pasted across the walls of the city so that the message is delivered seamlessly.
And there were a lot of rules:
This is what it says:
“We request all girls, please do not use Scooty. If we see a girl riding Scooty, we will burn the Scooty as well as the girl.“
The police team is investigating the case and more details surrounding this controversy.
“There was one poster. We are examining it. Whatever legal action is necessary will be taken. There is no need to panic. We will ensure security. We will take care of people moving on Scooties,” SJM Gillani, Inspector General of Police said.
But, this is not it. It seems like a wave of unrest has triggered in Kashmir because of this group that is also dictating to close down the shops and some of the banks.
Uninterrupted curfews and senseless rules have surfaced in the city in the form of leaflets and calling it scary is an understatement.
I feel sad for the residents of Kashmir. Living amidst this unrest and coping with this situation is really sad. At the same time, it evokes anger as groups like this have been gaining momentum and spreading nonsensical rules like this.
Whatever happened to Kashmir being a heaven on the Earth!
